The Ego series are part of an ongoing extensive documentary photography project on the Kawah Ijen volcano, in East Java, Indonesia, which combines nature and human beings.
The images from the Ego series are portraits of young girls, tourists from China, who at dawn, in the caldera of the Ijen volcano, pose for photographs with their gas masks, protective goggles, their designed nails, and their extravagant outfits, which contrast with the almost Martian landscape of the volcano caldera, the lake, and the smoke that envelops everything.

Carlos Ramiro is a storyteller photographer.
freelance photographer, researcher, writer, and traveler, his stories focus mostly on four photographic fields: Documentary, architecture, nature, and creative.
