Portraits from the photobook Embrace:
This book features intimate portraits of individuals and couples who have experienced accidents resulting in spinal cord injuries. Created in collaboration with the Danish Specialised Hospital for Polio and Accident Victims, Embrace serves as a source of inspiration — a tribute to the courage it takes to rediscover or even reinvent one’s sexuality after illness or trauma. It’s a story of strength, vulnerability, and the will to reclaim intimacy on new terms.
Each portrait is accompanied by a QR code linking to a podcast interview.

Natascha Thiara Rydvald is a Danish visual artist and photographer with over 20 years of experience. Based in Copenhagen, she specializes in storytelling through photography and cinematography, working across fiction, documentary, dance, and art projects. Educated at the Danish Technical School of Photography and the Danish Film School, Natascha is known for her strong visual sense and ability to capture rhythm and emotion. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and film productions.
