Dans le quartier des tanneurs à Marrakech, un visage émerge à peine d’un amas de peaux brutes. À demi dissimulé derrière ces drapés de cuir, l’homme semble prisonnier, presque enseveli. Son regard transperce cet enchevêtrement de matières, frontière entre son identité et l’univers pestilentiel des tanneries. Un portrait à la lisière du réel et du symbolique, où la chair vivante se confond avec les peaux mortes.

Marc Lenfant is a French photographer based in French Polynesia for more than twenty-five years. Trained as a geographer, he explores the relationship between people, the ocean and island territories. His work moves between documentary approach and poetic vision, focusing on gestures, traditions, landscapes and the fragile balance between human presence and nature, in Polynesia and during his travels beyond the Pacific.
