sentinel explores how mobile phones turn us into both watchers and the watched. Each piece is composed of thousands, sometimes up to 80000 automatically captured images, revealing a quiet, relentless self-surveillance. The artist instructed the machine to spy on him, then responded through code, organizing chaos with color and structure. Algorithms act as brushes, images as pigments, forming panels grouped by season, day, or hour; a double dialogue in a form of post-photography native to our era. Due to submission constraints, these works are shown in reduced resolution.
With a Master’s in Physics and an international background in tech, Alva Martín explores the intersection of digital immediacy and silent contemplation through mobile photography. His work blends a deep connection to technology with a poetic, observational approach, reflecting on how devices shape our relationships, perception, and presence. Trained at EFTI and PHotoEspaña, he engages with contemporary debates on post-photography and everyday aesthetics.
