Shamanism is prevalent and experiencing a revival in Mongolia. It is the oldest belief system in Mongolia and was the main religion during the time of Genghis Khan. Whilst Buddhism and communism led to a decline, there has been a significant resurgence in recent years as Mongolians re-connect with their cultural and spiritual heritage.
Shaman Orchirbat of Mongolian Uriankhai tribe performed a ceremony in the mountains to pray to God for blessings for his family in early winter under heavy snow.

The pandemic prompted a rethink of life and fired a desire to travel, see and understand the world. Travelling the world to open my eyes and mind, I strive to use my humble skill to capture the human condition through the lens.
