When I was a teenager, I once asked my mother,
“If there’s a next life, would you still choose to be human?”

Without hesitation, she said,
“No. I’d be a bird, one that flies freely.”

I didn’t understand the weight of those words then.
Years later, I finally began to.
It was the quiet voice of a soul worn down by life —
a longing to escape, to be unburdened,
to rise above the heaviness of being human.
