“Blue, Sky, Brown Earth, Green Leaves” is an overlay of chipped green paint and a rusted sheet of iron. Color, light, and manipulation were used to more fully express the ephemeral and protean nature of the elements within the image, and by reference, the ephemeral and protean nature of all things.
Sam Rittenberg is a New York and Dominican Republic based photographer whose work explores the paradoxical nature of existence. His images express his belief that by capturing the infinite within the ordinary, a photograph can serve as a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us.
