“Ji Tong” In “Nanzhou God-Welcoming Ceremony”

Nanzhou God-Welcoming Ceremony is held once every three years in Taiwan. In this ceremony, “Ji Tong” plays an important assignment. “Ji Tong” means Taoist spirit medium or Taoist shaman in Chinese. They are responsible for conveying the will of gods. “Ji Tong” somethimes use a sword or machete, ball or stick filled with nails on their bodies to demonstrate the power of Gods.
