The original images were taken on different Graffiti Photo Walks through various artsy neighborhoods in Johannesburg. I was immediately attracted to the impressive array of Street Art. My interpretation of the street scenes reflect my experiences with these poverty-stricken areas. I want to show the contrast between beauty and decay’s ugliness, between energetic creativity and negligence.

The artworks were realized by transferring my photos on silver foil covered wooden boards. The transfers were then treated with an oxidizing agent, oil colors and cold wax before they were reshot.
