Jia-Chi was born with a rare disease that caused her left leg to swell for years. Over 26 years, she had repeated surgeries and eventually lost her left foot. Even now, her wound bleeds and oozes daily, requiring 4–5 bandage changes.
One day, she told me she wanted to dance by the sea. Because of her injury, she had never touched the ocean. Through this dance, she hoped to embrace herself and show that even with limits, one can still step out and experience the world.
That day, she danced freely. I didn’t interfere—just quietly documented it. Now, I share her story.
