“Abstritti 33” explores the infinite and cyclical nature of being. The image captures a weathered wall in midtown Manhattan, where layers of old posters had been torn or partially removed. Through the use of color and light, the elements within the photograph were revealed and recomposed to express the paradox of that which is simultaneously in a state of destruction and creation - a paradox in which can be found both connection and acceptance.
Sam Rittenberg lives and works in New York City and the Dominican Republic. His primary interest is in a photograph's power to convey the infinite and paradoxical nature of being. He is guided by the idea that every picture has the potential to be a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us.
