Abstritti 33

“Abstritti 33” explores the infinite and cyclical nature of being. The image captures a weathered wall in midtown Manhattan, where layers of old posters had been torn or partially removed. Through the use of color and light, the elements within the photograph were revealed and recomposed to express the paradox of that which is simultaneously in a state of destruction and creation - a paradox in which can be found both connection and acceptance.

Sam Rittenberg is a New York and Dominican Republic based photographer whose work explores the paradoxical nature of existence. His images express his belief that by capturing the infinite within the ordinary, a photograph can serve as a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us.
