In the summer of 2024, a small group received permission from the Chinese authorities to visit Tibet. I was part of the group, so I had the opportunity to visit the largest cities and Buddhist monasteries of Tibet. During the trip, it was interesting to see how differently tourists (mainly Chinese) and locals approach various holy places. While local people respected the sanctity of the place, tourists took "insta-photos" or had themselves photographed wearing local folk costumes. (This is a separate "industry" in Lhasa.) The photos were taken at the sacred Yamdok Lake, in Lhasa and Shigatse.
