Marlene Waits

On a quiet island near Venice, 88-year-old Marlene travels to each day to San Servolo for the free Wi-Fi. She checks her emails for a message from the man who signs as Johnny Depp. She knows it might be a hoax. Still, the words are kind. They make her feel seen. She hasn't heard from him for weeks. Still, each morning she comes.

With more than three decades of experience, Esra Belgin works primarily in documentary photography, street photography, and photojournalism. Her approach is rooted in observation and authenticity, concentrating on candid moments that reflect social realities and everyday life. Her photographs have been recognized with several awards in national and international competitions.
