On a tranquil morning, a surreal pier erupted from the sea-green waters like something out of a fairytale. Its rounded shape and bright hues reminded me of an enormous lollipop—oddly cheerful and out of place, as if someone had dropped a piece of childhood into the water and left it there to float.
