MEMORIES
Lurking in the shadows of the past,
Joy, terror, anguish, mercy, tenderness
All recorded in the history book of remembrance,
Keepsakes for the antiquities of time.
Diaries of cherished reflections
That dance as a thistle seed on a gentle breeze
And fade with the elegance of a petal on an aged stem.
Delicate yet potent, ripples of pain and pleasure,
Sometimes indistinct, sometimes crisp.
But always...echoes.
Perhaps memories do not wither with the passage of time
And, just as the splendor of a bloom,
Their vigor yields only to flourish
In an enduring state of grace.
