In the predawn light we headed back to the Ewaso Narok river where the night before we had located tracks of a leopardess & her cub, but losing the light abandon the site until now. We began to grid track, stopping often as photo opportunities developed. The last stop, we glimpsed a male leopard. He was the new mission. The terrain was inhospitable, so it was necessary to navigate where we thought he'd go. At one juncture we saw him bolt across an open patch of ground giving us the opportunity to set ourselves ahead of his position & witness him go to ground preparing to ambush a Dik Dik...
