Waki-Honjin Okutani is a historic residence that has served as a Waki-Honjin (secondary inn) and post station for generations. Built in the Meiji era, it features abundant hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood. Visitors can admire the grandeur of this traditional home and learn about past lifestyles around the irori (hearth).
Only around the winter solstice, sunlight filtering through the lattice windows casts enchanting beams of light, illuminating the smoke and creating a magical atmosphere that enhances the unique charm of this cultural treasure.
