This photo was taken on my first bus trip when I arrived to Cluj (Romania) from Paris.
A gypsy family jumped up on the bus and sat right next to me. They were loud, energetic, a bit smelly and dirty, as they always existed in my perception. But after getting home from Paris, the presence of this very human, so familiar picture gave me a feeling of authenticity and home. Seeing this little boy’s eyes reflect pure joy - without any knowledge of society or stigmas - made me feel connected to him, as one human connects to another within pure existence.
