With all my fine art images, I wish to convey a feeling or emotion using symbolism, and story, as opposed to showing wildlife in its natural surroundings.
As they begin their sweet young life, a flamingo’s feathers don’t start with that flamboyant pink hue. This develops over time from their nurturing food source, giving meaning to the saying; you are what you eat. In turn, they symbolize each individual’s need to be nurtured so we can reach our true “Potential”.
I am a fine art photographer from New Zealand. My vision is to create a collection of sensitive silent moments, inspired by symbolism and folklore, capturing stories of nature, some full of whimsical intrigue, others more painterly botanical, always attempting to make something beautiful. I believe as artists we can turn our dreams into reality. I feel my recent works come from a place of layering, intuition, and experimentation and exist somewhere in between painting and photography.
