Sublime XXV
The purpose of my photograph is to remove these occurrences from their immediate context and imagine them anew. This way we’re forced to wonder if we’re seeing them as they were lived and experienced, or if we’re creating something entirely new just by bearing witness. Hazy impenetrable rumors and soulful whispers hidden within its beauty, only to be discovered stirring the unknown in each of us.
Katherine Richmond took up photography in 1976. From the early beginnings, she was attracted to nature, people, documentary and in recent years abstract photography. She splits her time between Massachusetts and Vermont U.S.
Always in pursuit of finding a magical moment between the subject and light to capture the emotional element. AI is not part of Richmonds images.
Aside from pursuing fine art photography, her commercial photography work is art reproduction, selling and leasing images, printing for photographers in her digital studio lab.
Awards Since 1993 she has taken part in photographic juried competitions and exhibitions. Up to now she has won sixty awards, forty three are from large international competitions seventeen are national, regional, and local awards. Richmond has won first place at a national juried show at the Copley Society of Art, Boston MA in 2022, and was awarded first place in a black and white international competition in 2022. has participated in fifty eight juried shows regionally and nationally.
She has participated in a group exhibition called "Quarry Art" 2023 at the Cape Ann Museum, Gloucester MA.
Her photos have appeared in publications, and are in many private collections.
Richmond is juried member the Copley Society of Art Boston MA, represented by Charles Fine Arts and Jane Deering Gallery of Gloucester MA.
