Secret Dawn at the Louvre
Originally built in 1190 as a fortress, the Louvre has evolved through centuries, shaped by varying styles and royalty's whims. Today, it's a repository of iconic art and a beacon for photographers worldwide. This photo was taken during the early morning blue hour, when the palace was closed. Luckily, one gate had been left open, giving me exclusive access to capture the Louvre's majestic architecture and geometrically intriguing pathways. Security eventually noticed, but not before I secured this stunning image marrying the palace's grandeur with its serene surroundings.
I’m Jan-Tore Oevrevik, often known as JT, a Norwegian-American photographer. My journey began in 1998 in a makeshift darkroom in my bathroom, sparked by a local photography course. That initial foray into film development opened a door to the exhilarating world of photography that I had never imagined before! I am passionate about capturing the breathtaking beauty of landscapes, the vibrant life of cities, and the untamed spirit of wildlife around the globe. My images serve as open doors, inviting viewers to step into captivating worlds and discover scenes that ignite the spirit of adventure.
Awards My camera and I have been lucky enough to earn some applause along the way, including the "Discovery of the Year" from reFocus, a bronze from the Fine Art Photography Awards, multiple Platinum and Gold awards from the Muse Photography Awards, Category Winner of the Year Award from London Photography Awards, and the "Best Artist Fall 2022" from Photoserge Academy.
My photographs have danced on the walls of galleries like the Valid World Hall Gallery in Barcelona, Galerie Gora in Montreal, Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago, Art Market Budapest, Matca Space for Photography in Hanoi, Almanaque fotográfica in Mexico City, and Glasgow Gallery of Photography. They've also graced the pages of publications like Dodho, Digital Photographer Magazine, NOIR International Photo Magazine, UCP Magazine, and Digital Camera World, sharing our adventures with the world.
