Outside Looking In Series

Windows offer a path from the public world into the personal and into private moments. These photos capture a view into some of the interiors of Los Angeles at night. Each of these images tells a story that can be quite different from these two alternate perspectives. One can image themselves on either side of this window: peering into the night from inside their private world or stationed on the quiet and lonely street outside, imaging what is happening on the interior.

Originally from the east coast, I've called LA home for the last 10 years. I am an engineer by training and an avid photographer in my free time. I first learned how to work a camera on my dad’s Exakta Varex IIa back in the 1980’s, shooting black and white negatives and developing them in my high school dark room. For me part of the joy of taking pictures has always been in setting up the lighting and having an intuitive sense of the physical principles of imaging that lead to a compelling photograph. My work consists of Street Photography in and around Los Angeles, California, USA
