In Lithuania, close to Šiauliai, there is a place of christian worship called The Hill of Crosses. It is described as a place of hope and enlightenment, but has also been known as a place of quiet, secretive protest against Russian and Soviet rulers of the past. It is a place of cultural and historic importance with an incredible, almost palpable atmosphere, well worth a visit!
