The interiors of UAE Pavilion by Santiago Calatrava at Expo 2020 Dubai, UAE.
Conceived by the Swiss-Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava the UAE Pavilion’s design featured 28 moveable wings. At the centre of the structure there was a sphere-shaped void that served as an auditorium with a capacity of 200. Its continuum form was a symbol of resilience and of a boundless future embracing a dialogue among different cultures.
A Philosophy graduate, Francesca Pompei is specialised in Art and Architecture Photography and her professional collaborations include projects for AD-Italia, the Vatican City State, Emre Arolat Architecture, Jaca Book, Living Corriere della Sera, Artribune, Venaria Reale, the Cultural Heritage Ministry and the Italian Embassy in Doha. Artist selected to celebrate Italy’s Republic Day 2020 and 2021, she is a member of PhotoVogue, in addition to her role as a Professor of Photography and Photography Subject Expert at the Faculty of Architecture in Sapienza University, in Rome.
