Tsagaan Sar is a New Year according to the lunar-solar calendar, a holiday of the Mongolian and some Turkic peoples. The holiday of the «White Month» dates back to religious Mongolian traditions and is a symbol of the renewal of man and nature, openness and purity of thoughts, hope and good expectations.
Nowadays, the Tsagaan Sar holiday is celebrated by Buddhists in many countries. The presented series of photographs was taken in the Republic of Buryatia, where the Tsagaan Sar holiday is considered one of the main Buddhist holidays and is widely celebrated in February.
