Tin City in located on the Stockton Sand Dunes in NSW, Australia.
In the 19th Century, shipwrecks were so common, that several sheds were built to hold provisions for shipwrecked sailors. The number of shacks increased during the Depression, built by squatters.
Today, only 11 remain but no new shacks may be built, nor rebuilt if destroyed - they can only be repaired by materials found in the vicinity. They can't be sold either, but are passed on in the family.
The design of the shacks is very eclectic & fascinating with a definite charm despite some being partially buried by shifting sands.
