Nagudo of the Suri Tribe

The Suri or Surma tribe live in Ethiopia near the South Sudanese border. They are an interesting and tough people with various traditions that include insertion of lip and ear discs and body scarification, which are considered signs of beauty. The wearing of numerous adornments is also a custom.
As you can see Nagudo is using her decorations to emphasise her individualism and confidence within her society.
She exuded a beautiful inner personal warmth and mystique, which is what I was attempting to capture with my photo.

I am an elderly retired nurse, who now has a passion for photography. I love sharing my experiences plus learning from others. A never ending quest for improvement in telling my stories.
