Constructed in Qing Dynasty in 1884, North Gate is the most well-preserved old gate in Taipei. It is the symbol of the beginning of the city, which witnesses the change of eras from Qing Dynasty, Japanese occupation to the present rule of the Republic of China. Though the walls on both sides of the gate have been demolished, the North Gate remains intact and spectacular. As I wander around this historic site, seeing an elder man riding and passing by the gate, I swiftly take a photo of such charming sight at the critical moment. It makes me think of the good old days and the glory of the city.
