February 27 2020, the first Danish case of COVID-19 was detected. Since then, the infection spread with such tremendous speed that the authority decided on a national lockdown and then also closed Denmark's borders. The corona crisis also resulted in the closure of kindergartens, schools, universities, restaurants, cinemas, cafés, theaters, venues and nightclubs, as well as encroachments on freedom of assembly in large parts of 2020 and 2021.

As of today (April 28th, 2022), 2.964.337 people have tested positive for corona virus in Denmark. 6.135 have died with Corona.
