With a pig population of over 30 million, the Spanish farming industry has established itself as the largest producer of live pigs within the European Union.
In addition to the debate generated by the farms’ environmental impact, there is increasing social concern about the way animals are treated.
Nonetheless, despite being a matter of public interest, the livestock industry makes access to its facilities difficult. As such, groups of animal rights investigators access to farms covertly in order to document and make public what happens inside, and share those images with the media.
