Crossing Lives

This project aims to represent Andean Countries stuck in between the Past and Future. I choose diptych as format to catch social and cultural dualism, a long time stratification of Society: indigenous vs colonist, the rich vs poor, the native people vs the conquerors, National Borders vs Indigenous Territory. Native traditions and habits are radicated in National Countries such as the Western culture and influence. Recently the rights of indigenous people have been denied, unemployment has increased, social and racial tensions have become complicated in an already difficult political crisis.

Nicoletta Cerasomma is a pop surrealist artist with a background in staged photography.
Her work is highly conceptual and complex: she incorporates archetypes and cultural iconography with satirical narratives inspired by the collective unconscious. Leaning into the visual language of pop surrealism, she stages narrative compositions that expose the underbelly of modern life.
Nicoletta is inspired by the dichotomy Beauty and Decay, themes that she incorporates incorporates in order to evoke contemplation on human condition, through a vivid and provocative cinematic technique.
