A Sense of Place - Imprints of Iceland

These composite landscapes are a re-creation of places from an estranged homeland. They include hand cut photographs arranged in fingerprint patterns as well as abstract landscapes where multiple photographs with variable cutouts are layered together imitating landforms that have formed over time. The resulting images speak to the effects between man and nature, as well as the imperfections of memory, inducing the viewer to draw on their own experiences to complete the work. Also, by utilizing fingerprint textures, they speak to our responsibility for our impressions upon nature.
