This is a portrait of our two years old son Dominic with an injured dove that was rescued. The marks of the injury are visible on the dove's neck. Dominic has had his own share of trauma, when not long before taking this photo an intruder came to our house and shattered our sense of safety and Dominic witnessed it all. After that event, the whole family has been on the road to recovery. The dove and Dominic in this portrait convey a sense of empathy toward each other providing a reassuring presence and refuge for one another.
