Astrid stages scenes that verge on the surreal, placing individuals (often herself) and objects where they don’t seem to belong. Her work explores the complicated relationship between human and nature.
In times when we seem to distance ourselves more and more from our natural roots, shed travels to secluded areas around the world to investigate her connection to the natural world and the influence these desolate surroundings have on her sense of identity.
Her images can be seen as emotional translations where an urge to control is often challenged by the desire for synergy.
