The Siddi also known Habshi, are an ethnic group inhabiting India and Pakistan. Members are mostly descended from the Bantu peoples of Southeast Africa, along with Habesha immigrants. Some were merchants, sailors, indentured servants, slaves and mercenaries. The structures of the caste system the Siddi are considered very lowly, below the Dalits and other Tribal groups in India.
