Casa dos Crivos (Sieves House) is a Renaissance-era shop/residence constructed outside the old walls of Braga, in the civil parish of São João do Souto, municipality of Braga. It is characteristic of late Renaissance architecture and one of the few examples of a building covered in wood-lattice facade from this period. This is the first image of a series called "Braga: Architectural Mosaic" where I tried to isolate the most iconic buildings of my City from the surrounding noise by using two colours of the facade to create the background, focusing in the beauty of the facades.
José Carlos Costa was born in August 1978, in Braga (Portugal). Although he has a scientific background, with a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Minho, photography has always been his chosen form of artistic expression, showing the world not as we see it, but as he interprets it, sometimes introspective as a B&W long exposure, and other times as colorful as the landscapes of the National Park Peneda-Gerês. One book published (Portraits from Cuba), has >25 individual exhibitions and have won several awards and photos accepted at FIAP/PSA salons.
