Muses

"I love pushing the boundaries of what is considered reality, and by using water as an artistic medium, I can drift far with this. With Muses, it was time to let go and find something new and let inspiration lead me there." Through a fragile process of experimentation, Rogers builds elaborate scenes of coalesced colors and entangled bodies that exalt the human character as one of vigor and warmth, while also capturing the beauty and vulnerability of the tragic experience that is the human condition.

A pioneer in underwater photographic style and technique, earning her international acclaim, Christy Lee Rogers' work embraces the unique quality of light refraction between the surface and layers of water, and her personal approach is to honor and explore the frailty of our existence within the elements around us. Her obsession with water as a medium for breaking the conventions of contemporary photography has led to her work being compared to Baroque painting masters like Caravaggio.
