Roppongi 6-chome District

  • Photographer
    Ako Martin, United States

I documented the starting of the changing landscape of Roppongi Hills, formerly known as
the Roppongi 6-chome District, before it was designated as the redevelopment inducement
area in 1986. It took the involvement of approximately 400 landowners and 17 years to
complete. I wanted to record the reminiscence of the neighborhood, the goldfish seller
store that lasted for five generations, numerous sloping roads and the ivy covered walls -
the soon to be torn down of personal and landscape history.
