Out With The Old Cries, In With The New Laughs

My name is Gatsby Moellhausen. I am 16 years old and photography is a passion of mine. I've always loved to observe it and practice it. Being so young, I am certainly a more novice photographer compared to others. Nonetheless, I have recently started to really dedicate my self to my photography. This February, I went to Burma with the mission to capture "the soul and spirit of Burma's ancestral land and culture". I particularly enjoy and like to practice a more artistic form of "humanitarian documentary photography"., Mexico

Burma used to be governed under a brutal dictatorship and military regime. The unique man
in the photos got unjustly arrested several years ago. He was taken from his family and
thrown in prison. When Burma finally became a "half democracy" the man was released after
being held seven years. When the innocent man returned home to his family, they had a big
celebration. Now, on the anniversary of when he was released, everyone in their village
have a party. This party is also a way for the village to be happy about the new
government and to continue hoping that their amazing country will one day be a full
democracy. After establishing a good relationship with this man, I took photos of him and
his wife in their home/hut. All the photos were taken with natural light. We had a lot of
fun.
