Elegant Knot, Katrin in Asheville Alleys, 03-23-2016JC

This image is an excerpt from a series with model Katrin Dohse. She inhabited the alcoves
off several different alleys in Asheville, NC in a single shoot. I like the way this
series portrays the presence of polarities in my photography. The extreme restriction of
the shoot - Katrin in alcoves off alleys - led to a plethora of possible images and
post-production manipulations. The old adage, that each action creates an equal and
opposite reaction, is too linear in my experience. I prefer paired polarities such as
intent/openness or, in this case, restriction/options.
