Grand Place - Brussels

  • Photographer
    Gregoris Mentzas, Greece

The Grand Place, the central square of Brussels, is one of the
most beautiful places of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage
Site.

Capturing in photographs the grandeur and aesthetic wealth of
the Grand Place and the blend of architectural and artistic styles
of the surrounding buildings is quite a challenge.

My most favourite hour is during dusk, when the light in the sky
blends with the artificial illumination of the city's Town Hall and
the Museum of the City, two of the larger edifices in the square.

In order to capture the splendour of the place I opted for multi-
image panoramas that allow for extremely high resolution and
fine detail.

Gregoris Mentzas leads a double life as an academic professor and a fine art photographer. His work focuses on the concepts of time and decay, tranquility and silence. He strives to capture serenity and encapsulate the ephemeral quality of calmness.
