Under the Wedge

  • Photographer
    Maria Isabel Reverberi, United States

"Under the Wedge" documents surfers determined to ride the large wedge shaped waves at The Wedge, a popular surfing spot located at the end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, CA. On this particular day, these fellows decided to compete against each other at the sight of my camera and lens. Images were taken with a 400mm lens and shot on Delta 3200 Professional film. RC prints were enhanced for the web.

Maria Reverberi is a non-professional Fine Arts Photographer and Multimedia Artist. Her creative mediums include, but are not limited to analog and digital photography, filmmaking, graphic design, charcoal, and graphite drawing.

Ms. Reverberi’s work encapsulates various aspects of the human condition. Whether in the United States or abroad, she has captured the lives of strangers brought together by one common human factor: the emotional connection to hardship and triumph through perseverance. A few of these events have been the Summer and Fall Games for the Special Olympics of Southern California.

Currently, Ms. Reverberi freelances as a Graphic Designer and volunteers as a Photo Lab Technician for the Irvine Arts Center.
