Earth Mothers

The “Earth Mothers” project is based on the interaction between
motherhood and earth. In a burial, earth is connected with the
body creating a moment where the physical world is distorted,
symbolizing rebirth.

In 2008, a group of mothers of Soacha´s Community denounced
the disappearance and death of their children. An investigation
uncovered that members of the Colombian Army had posed them
as guerrillas to collect financial rewards. The Mothers of Soacha
have worked tirelessly to preserve the memory of their children
and to demand justice from the government.

Colombia's armed conflict has lasted more than 50 years with a
blurry distinction between the concept of good and evil sides.
The series seeks not just to recognize them as “The Mothers of
Soacha” but also as women. They are known for keeping alive the
memory of their children as they want to be seen as mothers,
daughters, and human beings.
