Black and white photography can be challenging, particularly when translating color
images. But I have always been drawn to the medium. This scene, in the San Juan Mountains
of Colorado, was inundated with colors, and the elements lacked a center of attention. The
real excitement for me came when I converted a camera to record the infrared color
spectrum of light. It made it rather easy to convert the image to black and white and
record the tones quite differently
Jon Evan Glaser of Images by Jon Evan, LLC, is a former dentist turned fine art photographer. Drawn towards the grand landscape, he creates images that showcase both the beauty of nature, and the relationship between color and light.
