Revolution Wi-Fi

Cuba in 2015 had, for the first time, online access.
The government installed Wi-Fi hotspots in the parks of several
cities. Despite the 2$ a hour cost is prohibitive for the low-earning
classes, it is becoming possible for the emerging middle-class that
works in the "New Cuban Economy"; several professions in the
tourism industry that were liberalised after the nineties' economic
crisis.
People sitting in the dark, lit-up by the light of their devices
populate the connected areas. Videocalling abroad is the favourite
activity, despite the government restrains Skype and messenger
some apps bypass the block. Facebook is accessible and popular
but the final challenge will be exploring the web.
In a country where a few years ago was illegal to own a mobile,
today there is access to smartphones and Wi-Fi. Almost sixty years
since the socialist revolution, Cubans are in the middle of an
Internet revolution, will they cope?
