Ali King Ali King’s experience of growing up in London, Brighton, Dublin and New York endowed her with a keen eye for the natural beauty of the landscape set within urban perimeters. She studied Advertising at the University of Dublin but her interest and love of photography remained a constant. She started work at an advertising agency but soon found herself following her first love, photography, and completed courses in photography and digital media while working at the agency. This lead to an opportunity with Image Magazine, Dublin, where she worked alongside high end fashion companies such as Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Dior to name a few to create iconic work. Ali began assisting well renowned British fashion photographers and spending generous amounts of time at Ardmore film studios learning from lighting technicians to hone her skills. The move to London came with Ali joining Chelsea and Kensington College to study fine art photography and began the shift from fashion photography. While in London she also worked for a production house that developed work for Dazed and Confused; and Vogue. This followed with Ali taking on the role of a studio manager for a commercial fashion studio which managed production for Tatler, Vogue and Gracia allowing her to work with models such as Kate Moss and Lily Aldridge. Ali’s first project, Flux exhibited in Chelsea in 2012, which has huge influences from her learnings in the fashion photography industry, yet the core of series remains Ali’s interest of the human body in their natural state. Her next series, Cyonza followed an year later in 2013. This time incorporating her love for flowers, with nature in the forefront and human in their basic element, the series showcases her intrinsic fondness for Ireland. The romance and mysticism of her subject continues in her latest series, Queens recently exhibit in Mayfair, London. The chief curator at Saatchi Art Rebecca Wilson, has recently featured Ali King in the "The Contemporary Nude" Collection on Saatchi Art's homepage. Ali say about her work, “I would say I’m an artist that relies on intuition. I don’t produce academic art. I’m into spirituality over academia. I feel my art just is. It just exists. Like I just exist.” , United Kingdom

Queens, is an intriguing series by Ali, exploring nature and nude
forms - creating a complex narrative. Her photographs are richly
sensual yet lend themselves to calmness, invitingly transcending
the onlooker to another world. As Ali says, “ I am drawn to female
energy and form. When I look at a female nude, I see the same
contrast of light and dark curves that exist in a flower. There is
unity in the two, a common form and aesthetic that I find
hypnotic”

Ali brings her love for nature during her shoots, transforming her
studio into a dreamlike state with the use of incense and diffused
flower oils. She uses cinematic lighting techniques and follows it
up in post production to generate subtle nuances. Talking about
her post production technique, Ali comments “During the process I
am always careful to preserve the fragility and intricate beauty of
the images, while hoping to create a vulnerable yet powerful
image. This process is crucial to my aesthetic; it has been
developed to intensify the ornate details found in nature.”
