Bullying by Abdullah AL Saab

  • Photographer
    Abdullah AL Saab, Kuwait

The concept of bullying has been lodged in my mind for the last two
years, and has been developing since then. It has been a painful
personal journey from conception to implementation, and a most
difficult one, rife with struggles both on a psychological level and on a
social level. What concerns me most is to uncover the ramifications of
bullying, the actual effects this abuse (of all kinds) has on people of all
ages, races, and affiliations.
I try to address the subsequent behavior and emotions that ensue
from the action of bullying.

After abundant research and countless interviews, I have finally been
able to come to terms with this topic and able to confront it with the
aim of helping others who have gone through one of – if not all of –
the types of bullying that I explore in this show.

Born in Kuwait in 1986, Abdullah has been working since he was 13 years old in diverse places. He carries a Bachelor’s in Interior Design and a Minor in Psychology, which has allowed his vision to evolve in a unique manner. He started fashion designing in 2008 with his first fashion exhibition, and since then his passion for design has taken him to explore the world, so that his work tells a story with a vision.

He started his Art journy - in 2011 with his first art collaboration with Kuwaiti artist Shurooq Amin (Beyond Movements); in 2013 he did his solo exhibition (Boundaries) where it got recognized locally and internationally by media, art collectors and museums.

Two of Abdullah AL Saabs artwork are now part of the Islamic permanent collection in LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of ART) in the Islamic Art Now: Contemporary Art of the Middle exhibition, as the show marks the first major installation of LACMA’s collection of contemporary art of the Middle East.
