Imprisoned in Art

'Imprisoned in Art' is the project about prisoners being actors, about
playing different and uncommon roles in our lives. I try to see and
show prisoners as actors in the theater of hard life; during the photo
session (just after the show) I try to "extract" the role from the
personality of the prisoner but eventually the actor become the
prisoner and it is just not possible to separate those two roles from
each other. Actors are the prisoners from different prisons in Poland,
some of the prisoners were convicted for self-defense (woman who
killed her husband after being hurt with hot oil) or for 'hit and run' car
accident. Stories behind those people are cruel but it is not so easy to
judge them if you can see them only as the actors. You can see only
their emotions and fear, sometimes hope and dreams. I took pictures
in 2014 and 2015 - just after shows in theaters that took place in
Poznan (Poland) during National Competition Prison Theatrical Work.
