In July 2010 I spent ten days circumnavigating the island of Spitzbergen
off the north coast of Norway - "hunting" for polar bears. The major food
source of the Polar Bear is the seal which is caught on ice flows. As
global warming heats the water the ice flows melt quicker, reducing the
hunting season and consequently the birth and survival of the bear cubs.
This project has helped raise awareness of the plight of the largest of our
land based mammals through photographic exhibitions and calendars.
