Insomnia - sleepless at night one is in-between stages. The
tired glance wandering the room and rests on objects shelling
themselves out of the dark. Familiar objects are blurred into the
depth of the space. Grayness has swallowed all colour - at
night all cats are grey.
Photography is different, compared to painting or drawing, one
looks for a resemblance - an observation from the real world.
This limitation, I am working with - gives the opportunity to
recognize. Selecting the view point, using the light, lens and
film one receives an image. This image is just the details found
through the camera. There is something real, how does it come
along?
My interest is finding a way to observe objects set in spaces,
without creating a purely atmospheric ambience. Just it – the
object, the space, light. In less illuminated rooms all comes
along in grey. Colour is not marking – one is looking at the
basics of a space.
This series is an ongoing project accompaning me through
many sleeplessnights. What one sees is greyness.

born in germany. Lives and works in London, UK.
Trained as a sculptor I am working with photography since 1996. My work is primarily based on photography in connection with spatial and sculptural conditions. Space is defined by its limitations, the physical outlines and that in between. Objects in my still life are treated as an element of space. Hereby I am lifting the everyday on stage.
